Learn touch typing one small step at a time. Start with where your fingers rest, then add a few keys per lesson. Each lesson only uses keys you've already learned.
Practise any keys
Already know some keys? Pick any letters, a row or one hand and drill just those.
Before typing anything: where each finger rests and how to find home without looking.
Find the bumps on F and J. Your index fingers live here.
Middle fingers rest on D and K.
Ring fingers rest on S and L.
Pinkies complete the home row on A and ;.
Index fingers stretch inward to G and H.
Index fingers reach up two rows from F and J.
Middle fingers reach up from D and K.
Ring fingers take 2 and 9, pinkies take 1 and 0.
Numbers mixed with words: prices, years and amounts.
Capitals on the right hand (J, K, H...): hold left Shift with your left pinky.
Capitals on the left hand (A, S, D...): hold right Shift with your right pinky.
Switch between both Shift keys for names and sentence starts.
Apostrophes, question marks and exclamation marks need Shift too.
